Govt to set up 40 Dialysis Centers: Minister

Health & Medical Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today exhorted businessmen and philanthropists to come forward to donate generously to strengthen health sector to serve the poor.

Inaugurating a Kidney Center for Dialysis Test at Gandhi Hospital here sponsored by Agarwal Samaj Sahayata Trust at a program attended by Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Animal Husbandry Minster Talasani Srinivas Yadav and officials, the minister said it was decided to set up 40 Kidney Centers across the State and people could keep at bay the diseases by awareness and required care about their health.

Right now there are seven Kidney Centers and their number will be increased to 40, Lakshma Reddy said. He appreciated Agarwal Samaj for its donation for social cause and asked the businessmen to come forward generously to provide better health services to the poor. Since the government alone cannot do the job, it is time for the businessmen to make 10 per cent of their benefits for strengthening health sector with social responsibility, he added. 

Stating that as many as 8,000 kidney patients were being treated across the State, Lakshma Reddy said the State government has taken a decision to offer medicines for life time free of cost to the kidney patients. The businessmen, who used to spend lakhs of funds due to power shortage during previous regimes can now get uninterrupted power supply in Telangana and spend 10 per cent of their benefits to strengthen the health sector, he said.

Narsimha Reddy said Agarwal Samaj had extended support for statehood and came forward for social cause by setting up Dialysis unit. He asked others to follow suit and help the government to offer improved health services to the people. Talasani Srinivas Yadav said health sector was doing better job and lauded Agarwal Trust for its services. (NSS)
