Govt trying to water down probe into SI suicide case: Jeevan

Demanding that the State government file a case under Section 306 IPC instead of Section 174 against those who drove Kukunuru SI Ramakrishna Reddy to commit suicide, Congress leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy said nobody bothered about the suicide of SI in none other than Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s constituency.

Speaking at the Assembly media hall here on Saturday, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the State government was trying to water down the case even though the SI had clearly mentioned the names of his officials in his suicide note who pressurized him to pay mamools. Questioning the government what was the reason to take up inquiry with the personnel facing allegations, Jeevan Reddy questioned the police officials for putting Rs 5 lakh target to Kuknuru police station during Prime Minister’s visit. The police were trying to water down the case, he said and alleged that illegal sand transportation was the reason for the death of the SI. He also asked the government to suspend the officials facing allegations in the SI”s suicide note. (NSS)
