Grand celebrations planned for Telangana Formation Day

The State Government has decided to celebrate the Formation Day of Telangana State on June 2 at a grand scale.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will lay the foundation stone for Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial near Hussainsagar on June 2.

The Chief Minister conducted a meeting on Tuesday to review the arrangements for Formation Day celebrations. The meeting was attended by MP Balka Suman, Mission Bhagiratha Vice-Chairman Prashant Reddy, MLC Bhanu Prakash, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma and other senior officials.

The Chief Minsiter said that a big memorial would be constructed for Telangana martyrs’ as a mark of respect for their sacrifices. He said that the memorial, spread across 12 acres of land, would be constructed by shifting the offices of Tourism Department, Energy Department and Buddha Purnima Project to some other places. Roads & Buildings Chief Engineer Ganpathi Reddy has been assigned the responsibility of constructing the memorial.

KCR said that the celebrations should be held at grand scale in Hyderabad as well as in Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi. (INN)
