GST Bill issue: BJP challenges Rahul Gandhi for open debate in Parliament

New Delhi, Aug 10 : Hitting out at the Congress for blocking the passage of GST Bill in the Parliament, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur on Monday challenged the opposition to have an open discussion about their issues in the Parliament.
“Rahul ji, the nation is asking why don’t you want an open discussion in the Parliament? What are you afraid of? Why aren’t you speaking?” Thakur directed questions towards Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

Thakur alleged that the opposition is trying to drag back the nation as they do not want healthy debates in the Parliament.

“Every time they raised an issue, they fell flat on their face, so now they don’t want answers and are making noise even though the BJP is ready to answer all their questions,” Thakur told ANI here.

Training his guns on Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Thakur said that during their reign the two leaders were behind corruption and now they are trying to stop progress.

“During their government, for four years no action was taken against Lalit Modi. How much money did the Congress take from him? Under their reign they tried to destroy the nation,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier today said that to enable Parliament to function, Swaraj should let the country know how much money has been credited into her account by former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

“Please explain to the country and the people of India, how much money has been credited to you and your family’s bank account by Mr. Lalit Modi? Tell it straight, the House will function,” said Rahul Gandhi. (ANI)
