Guptill, Williamson level T20 series for Kiwis against Pak

Hamilton : Opener Martin Guptill and skipper Kane Williamson smashed half centuries each to help New Zealand claim a ten-wicket triumph over Pakistan in the second Twenty20 here at Seddon Park on Sunday.

Opting to bat first, Umar Akmal made 56 runs off 27 balls to guide his side to a target of 169 runs for the hosts.

In reply, New Zealand chased the target in just 17.4 overs, thanks to Guptill (87) and Williamson (72) for their unbeaten partnership of 171 runs.

Pakistan bowlers made several efforts to break the opening stand, but failed to do so.

With the win, New Zealand have also levelled the series.

Pakistan had won the opening T20 by 16 runs.

The two sides will play the third and the final match of the three-match T20 series in Wellington on January 22. (ANI)
