Hajj Committee has received over 18000 applications from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for Hajj 2016. Special Officer Hajj Committee Prof. S A Shukoor told that 562 applications have been submitted under septuagenarian category while 1275 applications have been submitted under reserved category (persons who have applied for Hajj pilgrimage consecutively since last three years). 12413 applications have been received from Hyderabad itself.
Last year Telangana Hajj quota was 2760 while 2969 aspirants went to Hajj after selection from waiting list. This year Hajj quota is likely to be allotted as per 2011 census.
