Imphal: A Chinese made hand grenade was found at Laijing Ningthou area of Thangmeiband Assembly constituency while explosive materials were recovered from near the gate of the RIMS Hospital- in twin incidents in Manipur’s Imphal West district where assembly by-elections are on November 21.
The hand grenade was placed by some unidentified persons when a musical concert was going on last evening, a Manipur police official said adding bomb experts defused the hand grenade.
Meanwhile, explosive materials including four detonators, five metre-long insulated wire, an empty tin fish container and some iron nails which could be used in fabricating improvised implosive device (IED) were recovered yesterday evening near the main entrance gate of Regional Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital by the Lamphel police station personnel, another official said.
The RIMS Hospital complex is very much close to hangmeiband Assembly Constituency where Assembly by-election campaign is in full swing, in Imphal West district.
