Hardik seeks bail from Surat court in sedition case

Ahmedabad: Patel quota agitation leader Hardik Patel today filed a bail application before the Surat sessions court in connection with a sedition case filed against him there.

Hardik’s lawyer B M Mangukiya argued in the application that he was a victim of political vendetta and the state government was trying to implicate him in a false case only to keep him away from coming local body polls in Gujarat.

The court would hear the application on November 19.

Last month, Surat police arrested Hardik on the charge of sedition under IPC for allegedly inciting a fellow activist to kill policemen.

Later, the Ahmedabad crime branch also invoked the sedition charge against him and his associates and took his custody.

After the completion of his police remand here on November 2, Hardik was sent back to Surat jail by a local court. Advocate Mangukiya said he will file a bail plea at the city sessions court here tomorrow.
