Harish launches MK pylon, flays Congress for creating hurdles

Accusing the Congress party of adopting “multiple standards”, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said the Maharashtra Congress leaders were creating hurdles to Kaleshwaram project.

Launching the 45ft Mission Kakatiya Pylon at Madannapet in Warangal district along with Minister Chandulal, the minister said the entire nation was appreciating the water revival program. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the lakes revival scheme, he claimed. Though the Congress from Maharastra was spiking the project while the BJP’s Fadnavis Government was in favour of it, he said.

The Congress leaders from Telangana should impress upon AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to direct the Maharastra Congress leaders to abstain from creating hurdles to the project if they are for development of the region. He also alleged that Telangana detractors are trying to stall the project works. The successive governments had miserably failed to focus on irrigation projects in Telangana. Despite bottlenecks and hurdles, the ruling peasant-friendly government in Telangana will complete the projects on time to irrigate lands, he vowed. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said, was spending a whopping Rs 25,000 crore for supplying waters for irrigating the crops.

Seeking to know about Devadula project works, he appealed to people to participate in lakes revival program for its success. “Our plan is to fill up Rangaiah lake in Narsampet with Godavar waters to bring under ayacut about 25000 acres. After necessary repairs, Pakala lake will be filled with Devadula project waters to distribute waters for second crop and construct 12 check dams in Munneru”, Harish said. Madannapet lake will be developed into a mini-tank bund at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore allotted for the purpose, he added. (NSS)
