Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao today offered floral tributes to Babu Jagjivan Ram on the occasion of his 110th birth anniversary at Siddipet MPDO office.
After paying rich tributes to Dalit icon and former deputy prime minister, Harish Rao said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao brought in a new Act for Dalit Development like no other state did in India. Special development fund is being offered by the Government for SCs and funds remained unspent will be carried forward to next year avoiding wastage or lapse, the minister noted.
Harish also recalled the services of Jagjivan Ram, a noted Dalit leader, who strived hard for the cause of Dalits and Tribals. The Chief Minister has special focus on the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Tribals and offering Rs 20 lakh grant towards foreign education, he said. (NSS)
