Haryana Govt. sanctions 500 buses for Gurugram

Gurugram (Haryana) [India]: The BJP-led Haryana Government has sanctioned a fleet of 500 busses in Gurugram to strengthen the public transport system in the city.

Gurugram MLA Umesh Agarwal said a new body Greater Gurugram Urban Transport Service Ltd (GGUTSL) has been constituted for this purpose, adding that the GGUTSL would be given the responsibility to operate these buses aiming to provide convenient, easy and effective mode of public transport facility to city residents and commuters.

He said that financial and investment support will be provided by Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) with 51 percent share, while rest of the cost will be provided by the Haryana Government.

He also said the latest fleet will comprise of AC and non-AC buses and would operate on 21 routes, covering a distance of 578 kilometres.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will formally announce this initiative on November 1. (ANI)
