Haseena Begum gets Swachh Dhooth award of Rs. 1 lakh

Hyderabad: Ms Haseena Begum has been picked the winner for the month of July by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for its Swachh Dhooth scheme. She has been awarded Rs 1 lakh. 49-year-old, Haseena Begum, a resident of Talab Katta, has been segregating waste for 18 years, long before the Municipal Corporation took the initiative of twin bins.

25,000 people have participated in the GHMC’s scheme so far.

Though Haseena hasn’t got the twin bins distributed by GHMC yet, she has been segregating kitchen waste and plastic waste into different buckets. She told that despite segregation at the source, the waste got mixed during transportation, until the GHMC introduced separate waste autos for dry and wet waste recently.

As per the report of DC, Haseena Begum’s son entered her name for the scheme via the GHMC Swachh Dhooth app. GHMC began the scheme as an incentive to households which implement good sanitation practices by segregating their wastes.
