Hyderabad: Justice M.S. Rama Chandra Rao of Hyderabad High Court pronounced the judgment ordering Govt. of Telangana to constitute Wakf Board within three months. Govt. had sought time for three months. Member of A.P. Bar Council, Mr. Z.H. Javeed had filed a petition 6 months back challenging the appointment of Competent Authority.
It may be noted that a notification was issued one year by the Govt. for the formation of Wakf Board but so far no action has been taken. On the contrary, Govt. appointed competent authority initially for 6 months. Later, his term was extended for another 6 months which is coming to an end on 18th October. On behalf of Secretary Wakf Board, the Government pleader filed counter affidavit in which an assurance was given for the early formation of Wakf Board.
