HC refuses to hear VH’s petition against UoH VC

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court today observed that it cannot take up hearing on any case on the basis of sentiments.
The High Court today took up the case filed by Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao urging it to take action against HCU Vice-Chancellor Podile Appa Rao and Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya in connection with the recent suicide of Dalit student scholar Rohit Vemula. The MP urged the court to order removal of HCU Vice-Chancellor P. Appa Rao in view of an FIR lodged in a police station and also action against Dattatreya.
Taking the contents of the petitioner seriously, the High Court observed, “How can the vice chancellor become principal accused on the basis of an FIR and Dattatreya as Accused No 2. The court cannot take up hearing of any case on the basis of sentiments. The court also asked the petitioner to study the case in detail and come before it and adjourned the case to Monday. (NSS)
