A ‘Heartless’ mother threw newborn baby girl in the trash

New York: Too often, we hear stories about babies who are abandoned by their mothers especially baby girls. One such women Nausheen Rahman, 28, of Staten Island threw her newborn baby in the trash.

Rahman was unaware of the sex of the baby. She didn’t take the time to look at the child and assumed it was a boy and with no time to spare, threw the baby in a trash bag.

She also kept her pregnancy a secret and didn’t revealed it to her parents and family. The neighbours from Richmond Hill Road in the New Springville call the cops. The New York Police Department responded to the call and reached the spot. Where they found the newborn baby in a plastic garbage bag, unconscious and unresponsive. Emergency crews pronounced the child dead at the scene.

she told the investigators that the baby was alive and moving before she cut the umbilical cord. After disposing the baby she went to Staten Island University Hospital Friday evening and told staff that she was bleeding as a result of giving birth at home.

Rahman was charged with second-degree murder after a medical examiner determined that the baby was alive before it was thrown in the trash. She was given no bail and the judge ordered her to remain behind bars until her trial for murder.
