Bhubaneswar: With the onset of monsoon delayed in Odisha, several parts of the state continued to experience blistering heat wave while high humidity made life miserable for people in the coastal districts on Sunday.
Bolangir registered the highest temperature at 42.5 degrees Celsius, followed by Hirakud at 42.1 degrees, Jharsuguda at 41.5 degrees and Sambalpur at 41.3 degrees, said the Bhubaneswar Met department.
State capital Bhubaneswar recorded 39.4 degrees and a humidity of 87 per cent.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department said monsoon was likely to hit the Odisha coast between June 14 and 16.
The monsoon arrival is likely to be delayed in interior and western parts of Odisha. The oppressive heat that has tormented people in western and interior Odisha will continue for another three to four days, the Met department added.
