New Delhi: With the temperature in the last three days being significantly higher than normal in most parts of the country, the MeT department`s prediction of extreme, and extended, heat wave-like conditions this summer seems to be coming true already.
The maximum and minimum temperatures have been between five to six degree Celsius higher than normal in parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, eastern Rajasthan and some parts of Madhya Pradesh.
The minimum temperature is more than 5 degree normal in these places. Odisha, witnessed rise in the mercury level yesterday after days of modest temperatures.
While western Odisha city Bhawanipatna recorded the day`s highest temperature at 43.2 degree Celsius, the mercury breached the 40 degree Celsius mark in as many as eight other places.The Regional Met office has predicted further rise in temperature in the coming days.
A few areas in Interior Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Southwest Uttar Pradesh have also been observing heat wave conditions.MeT department has forecast markedly high temperature at few places over Punjab, at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi and East Madhya Pradesh.
