Heavy fees in private schools – writ filed by parents association in HC

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Schools’ Parents Association has threatened that it will register criminal cases against the school managements of private schools who violate GO Ms 91 by collecting huge amounts of fees. As per this GO, private schools are bound to collect Rs. 5000 at the time of admissions but 14 private schools in Hyderabad city violated the above GO and collected fees to the tune of Rs. 1000 – Rs. 1 lakh. The Parents’ Association registered complaints with the DEOs of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Malkajgiri districts and gave one week’s time for taking action. The association has also filed a writ petition in the High Court of Hyderabad praying for regularization of collection of fees. Govt. of Telangana, in its affidavit assured the High Court that it would implement the GO but so far, no action has been taken.
