Helmet rule back in Hyd, HC orders heavy fine on Helmet-less bike riders

The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the Telangana State Government to impose penalty more than cost of a helmet on the two-wheeler riders not wearing helmets.

The High Court today took up hearing on a petition on the use of helmet by two-wheeler riders. During the hearing, the High Court chided the State government for failing to act tough against those bike riders not wearing helmets.

Responding to the High Court remarks, the State Advocate-General submitted to the court that the police personnel were concentrating more on catching chain snatchers than against helmet violators. But the High Court rejected the AG’s submission and directed that the government should stern action against helmet-less riders of bikes. (NSS)
