Higher Education abroad – Financial assistance to Minorities

Hyderabad: Govt. of Telangana is sanctioning Rs. 10 lakh to each student for study abroad. The last date of online registration of application is 1st August. Such of the students who have sought admissions in the universities of America, Australia, UK, Canada and Singapore are eligible to apply. They should take full advantage of this scheme. These thoughts were expressed by Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Department of Minorities Welfare while addressing a gathering at Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, Siasat Office Complex yesterday to highlight CM’s “OSSM” scheme. The technical team headed by Mr. Chakradhar explained the process of online registration. The selected candidates will also get one way air ticket in addition to Rs. 10 lakh financial assistance. The students are required to submit admit card, particulars of fees and the copies of degree certificates. Such of the student who have secured 60% or more marks in degree or PG exams are eligible under this scheme. They should also qualify GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL etc.

 

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily presided over the function. In his presidential speech, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that Siasat Urdu Daily has been actively providing guidance to the candidates about the State and Central welfare schemes. He appreciated the welfare schemes of TRS Govt. he requested Mr. KCR to exert his pressure on the Central Govt. for the implementation of welfare scheme for Minorities. He pointed out that the budget allocated for Minorities gets lapsed. Now that a dynamic personality like Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel is holding the post of Secretary of Minorities Welfare, Muslim community has high hopes in him that he would utilize State budget fully. Regarding the education of girls, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that there is 33% reservation for them under this scheme. They should fully utilize it. He offered that he would make a representation for any issue pertaining to education. He highlighted that Siasat Urdu Daily has been helping the students through its helpline and career guidance programs to create awareness about Govt. schemes.

 

Mr. Jalaaluddin Akbar, IFS, Director Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation highlighted various aspects of this scheme. Mr. Syed Hasanuddin Anas delivered a lecture on English conversation and communication skills. Many students who were desirous of seeking admissions in foreign universities put questions for which Mr. Omer Jaleel responded satisfactorily. Present on this occasion were Mr. Vilayath Husain, General Manager, Minorities Finance Corporation. The team of Siasat Helpline consisting Mr. Syed Khalid Mohiuddin Asad, Mr. Mohammed Rizwan, Mr. Salman Sadi, Ms. Farah Shazia, Mr. Ahmed Siddiqui Mukesh, Mr. Faheem Ansari assisted in the functioning of the program. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Hameed, career counselor conducted the meeting.
