JHANSI: In a shocking incident, eight men brutally gang-raped a middle-aged woman in front of her husband.
As per the complaint lodged by the woman, the incident took place on May 4 in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh when the couple works as small-time artisans coming back from Jaipur. A driver of a loaded van offered them lift when they were waiting for the public transporter.
The driver stopped the van for a while at a roadside liquor shop from where a few more people boarded the vehicle.
The van then was taken to a secluded spot where the men first tried the woman’s husband and took turns to rape her.
After looting the valuables, before dumping the couple on Auraiya-Jalaun highway, the eight men also threatened them with dire consequences.
The couple approached the Jalaun police and narrated the entire incident.
A case has been registered against the culprits under section 376D and 395 of the Indian Penal Code and the victim has been sent for medical examination, police said.
“A FIR has been lodged against eight unidentified men for gang-rape and dacoity. We will arrest the culprits soon,” Jalaun Additional Superintendent of Police SC Shakya told The Times of India.
