Hindu, Muslim students taught Arabic, Sanskrit in this madrassa


Agra: Moin-ul-Islam madrassa, is the best example of inculcating value of tolerance in the students belonging to both Hindu – Muslim community.

Located on the outskirts of Agra City, from heart of city in Deoretha-I area, the madrassa is the only Islamic educational institution in the country.

According to a report published in Times of India, the boys and girls are taught Sanskrit and Arabic languages.

Promoting co- education system, the madrassa has over 400 students, of which almost 150 are Hindus, who are fluent in reading and writing Arabic, Urdu, English, Sanskrit and Hindi.

Apart from this, classes from I to VIII were also conducted in which students are also taught mathematics, social studies, science and computer.

Maulana Uzair Alam, principal of the madrassa while speaking to TOI said, “We introduced the subject Sanskrit last month after consulting to religious scholars and others. The idea behind the initiative, was to embed wholesome knowledge, ethics and tolerant approach in life.”

As per school records, over 60% of students are Hindus studying in classes VI to VIII, while almost 40% are in primary classes.
