Hindu seers hold meeting with Amit Shah

Ahmedabad:A delegation of Hindu seers led by Junagadh-based Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu, today met BJP president Amit Shah at his residence here.

Shah is on a personal visit to the state as there is no scheduled programme of the party. He arrived in the city this afternoon, BJP sources said.

The seers called on Shah and made a representation about the development of religious places near Girnar mountain in Junagadh.

“The discussion revolved around the need to undertake development works at Girnar. We made a representation to Amitbhai regarding the same during the meeting,” Bharti Bapu told reporters after the meeting.

As the Gujarat Assembly polls are expected to be held later this year, Bapu said political parties should consider giving poll tickets to seers here, just like the BJP chose Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

“It is just my wish. We have not made any representation to Shah about it today. Seers can be given tickets in Gujarat. It is the need of the hour. I wish to see sadhus as elected representatives,” he said.
