JOB DESCRIPTION:
Work with other development team members to determine the most appropriate architecture and application partitioning to achieve the performance, extensibility, reusability and scalability requirements;
Work with the Data Architects, Technical/Application Architects and Designer/Developers to ensure that application-level software component and services are derived from and consistent with the requirements, business object model (BOM) and software services;
Review business object model (Analysis and Design model);
Participate in requirements gathering;
Develop general system design including internal and external information flows, current and future system requirements, interfaces, integration points and other relevant factors;
Document system architecture including major functional components, integration components;
Document conceptual data model, key entities and elements, data transformations, conversions and issues;
Map risk and issues to application architecture;
Track/manage implementation of key components by distributed team;
Participate in system deployment/implementation process.
Requirements:
8+ years experience in software development with 4-5 years experience in System architecture design;
In-depth knowledge of J2EE, OOA, OOD;
Experience in software development lifecycle processes;
Experience with web services, XML, SOAP design and architecture skills, object persistence methodologies and application deployment;
Ability to develop object models from the functional requirements and architecture;
Ability to translate business needs into functional and technical architecture;
Hands-on experience with J2EE/Java based web application Development;
Experience with core Java technologies such as: JSP, JSF, JSTL, EJB, JavaBeans, Servlets, JDBC, ANT, XML, Web Services, XSL, XSLT, SOAP, JUNIT;
Any one of: EJB, Hibernate, or any other JPA implementation;
Experience with EJB3, JDeveloper, Weblogic, Webcenter, LDAP, JUnit, or JPQL would be an asset;
Experience with Oracle products would be an asset;
Experience with automated acceptance test tools such as Cucumber, Frank, FitNesse, Selenium or Watir would be an asset;
Experience with Continuous Integration environments such as Jenkins would be an asset;
Experience in working on large systems development or system integration initiatives;
Demonstrated experience in working in a team environment;
Experience in working in an Agile environment is an asset;
Experience in working with one or more software development methodologies such as the Rational Unified Process or other of equivalent status;
Experience with Extreme Programming (XP) engineering practices would be an asset;
Fluency in English and good English writing skills to liaise with other teams, support staff, end users and business management people.
