Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Thursday announced CB-CID enquiry into the death of Sub-Inspector of Police Ramesh, who was found hanging to a tree in Pedamul mandal on Monday night.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, Nayani said that Ramesh, a 2012 Batch SI, hailed from a Tanda in Nalgonda district and was posted at Yalal Police Station. He said an enquiry was ordered by Home Secretary and DIG immediately after Ramesh was found dead. However, Ramesh’s wife has raised suspicions over the death and suspected that he could have been murdered.

The Home Minister said that when Ramesh was posted in Peddamol Police Station, the local sand mafia led by one Lakshman developed animosity with him. He said that the investigation would be intensified after the receipt of post-mortem report.

Nayani also condemned the Warangal encounter and said such incidents would not recur in future. (INN)
