HM turns tables on Congress, TDP on Nayeem case

Lashing out at the Opposition parties in the Legislative Council on Friday, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy alleged that “one party” gave birth to slain gangster Nayeem and another party brought him up.

During the question hour, responding to Congress members Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Nayani said the Congress had encouraged Nayeemuddin durig its 10 years rule. He said investigation was going on perfectly in Nayeem’s cases.

Interrupting the Home Minister’s speech, Congress MLC Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy reminded the statement of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao that the State government would not leave any political leader if found guilty in Nayeem’s case; but at the end of the day, the government left out important politicians from the case.

While charging the State government with leaving a big leader and higher police officials from the case, Komatireddy asked as to what happened in the last five months. He demanded that the State government clear the doubts of the people on Nayeem’s case. He also alleged that there was no clarity on finding AK47, Rs 20,000 crore benami properties and Rs 1000 crore worth cash from Nayeem’s residences.  He also said the State government has moral responsibility to clear the doubts among the people of the State. He demanded that the State government order CBI probe into Nayeem case if the government was honest.

Participating in the discussion, Shabbir Ali demanded that the State government order CBI inquiry into Nayeem as SIT was totally “unfit” to investigate Nayeem case effectively. Responding to Ali’s demand, Nayani said the State government has filed 173 cases against Nayeem’s accomplices and seized Rs 140 crore worth assets. (NSS)
