HMWSSB files criminal case against illegal water supply connection holder

The Vigilance Team of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board detected one illegal water supply connection at Rajendranagar and criminal case was registered under sections 269 & 430 of IPC in Rajendranagar Police Station against the occupant Gurupreet Singh.

The imprisonment for the above Criminal Case for taking illegal connections may be up to five years besides penalty, the Board said in a press release on Thursday.

Some of the house holders are taking water supply connections illegally from HMWSSB supply lines with the help of local plumbers and some are just applying for water supply connection by paying processing fee and resorting to illegal water connections with the help of local plumbers, which is an offence under Indian Penal Code. Plumbers who are giving illegal connections are also liable for punishment under IPC.

The applicant has to pay the required connection charges estimated by the HMWS&SB and the connection has to be given by the Green Brigade contractor of the Board and obtain Consumer Account Number (CAN).

Those who are having illegal connections shall approach the concern Section Managers / DGMs / GMs to regularize their connections before coming to the notice of Vigilance wing of HMWS&SB to avoid penalty under IPC, the Board said. (INN)
