Home Minister reviews security for Independence Day

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed on Sunday, the eve of Independence Day, the “over all security situation” in the country, an official said.

“The minister with his whole team, including union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, chiefs of intelligence agencies and other top officials of the central government, reviewed the over all security situation,” the Home Ministry official told IANS.

The minister was briefed by the officials on the prevailing situation in the country and the steps taken to ensure foolproof security.

Security situation in the national capital was reviewed as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on Monday from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

All arrangements have been made in and around the venue where a number of important political leaders, top officials and school children will be present to participate in a function to mark the 70th Independence Day of the country.

Security has also been tightened in Kashmir Valley in view of the prevailing unrest.
