House-owner installs spy cameras in tenants’ bedrooms, held for voyeurism

Hyderabad: A house-owner was arrested by Hyderabad police on Wednesday for allegedly installing secret cameras, to spy on his tenants.

Chatrinaka police received a complaint from a woman who found a hidden camera in her bedroom. Following the complaint police raided the house of the owner and seized a monitor, a CPU, a hard disk, a TV tuner, three spy cameras, a DVR and a pen drive. A case was booked against J Vijayanand (50) under Section 354-C of the IPC, which deals with voyeurism.

According to the police the complainant said that once when one of the tenants went to accused house to pay rent, he found the TV playing a video of his family. He was later shocked to find a spy camera installed in his house. He alerted other families too, who found spy cameras in their rooms as well.

The accused Vijayanand an electrician, had reportedly been recording private moments of his tenants over the last two months.

Falaknuma ACP Tajuddin Ahmed said the accused appears to be obsessed with voyeurism.
