Hyderabad: Parents lodge FIR against 4 schools for collecting exorbitant fees

Hyderabad: After its warning to the schools against illegal collection of capitation fees went futile, Hyderabad Schools Parents’ Association (HSPA) started filing complaints in police stations. In the first phase HSPA filed first information reports (FIRs) against 4 schools on Wednesday. The schools against which FIRs were filed included Hyderabad Waldorf School (Jubilee Hills), Jubilee Hills Kindergarten School, Phoenix Greens School, Gachibowli and Green Gables School. The FIRs were filed at Madhapur, Jubilee Hills and Raidurgam police stations.

According to HSPA sources, the remaining eight schools will be covered in a day or two.

the move was welcomed by the parents who were shocked to see the admission fee schools are collecting under various names. According to a parent a school was collected fee in the name of teacher training fund. He was surprised as to why a parent has to pay to train their teachers.

A list of 14 schools had been given by HSPA to the commissioner and director of school education and district education officers on December 15 and requested action. Following which two schools on the list brought down their admission fee to ‘5,000 from ‘1 lakh and ’10, 000.

It must be noted that government has limited one-time fee to Rs. 5,000, under any name whatsoever, at the time of admission.
