Huge metal sheets raised around Telangana CM’s residence-cum-camp office

Hyderabad: In a bid to provide foolproof security to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, giant metal sheets have been placed around his official residence-cum-camp office at Begumpet here.

The metal sheets will block the view of the complex from outside.

Keeping in view the security of the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues, who attend meetings at the camp office, the Intelligence agencies had suggested installation of these “view cutters” at certain heights around the camp office premises to block the view from neighbouring buildings.

Rao had moved into Pragathi Bhavan in November last year.

Spread over nine acres, the complex consists of the CMs residence, camp office and conference hall and chambers for senior officials of the Chief Ministers Office.

“There are many complexes and apartments around Pragathi Bhavan. In order to give foolproof security and avoid any untoward incident, we had suggested putting up view cutters and hence metal sheets were put up,” sources in Telangana Police told PTI.

“It is a part of security measure for protection of not only the CM, but ministers and other VIPs who attend the camp office. To avoid any possibility of security threat from anti-social elements or groups, who may rent out apartments in the surrounding high-rise buildings and take up reece of the entire complex, the need for view cutters at certain places and certain heights was mooted right at the time of laying foundation of Pragathi Bhavan,” they said.

According to sources, the work of installing metal sheets around the camp office is almost complete.

The chief minister is at present under the Z plus category security.

In May this year, the Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) that takes care of the CMs security, had replaced the personnel from the Telangana State Special Police (TSSP) with the commandos from Greyhounds–an elite anti-naxal force of Telangana Police.

Apart from local police, TSSP personnel also guard Pragathi Bhavan. According to sources, window panes of the complex are made of bullet-proof glass.
