New Delhi: Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has said that the Hurriyat is the true representative of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Basit, in a release, also rubbished reports stating that he would be meeting Engineer Rasheed, the independent MLA from Langate in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistani envoy had earlier said that extremist elements in India were against the improvement of ties between the two countries.
According to the Dawn, Basit blamed “extremist elements” for disruption of a scheduled meeting between the heads of Indian and Pakistan cricket board.
The envoy’s statement came a day after the Shiv Sena activists stormed the BCCI office in Mumbai and disrupted a crucial meeting with the PCB to protest against the India-Pakistan cricket series slated to be held later this year.
Basit also said that Pakistan was looking forward to hold a dialogue with India over a wide range of issues, including terrorism and Kashmir. (ANI)
