Hut used for prayers gutted in fire

Hyderabad: A makeshift hut which was being used for prayers by a minority community was burnt in Telangana’s Nizamabad district, police said today.

“A hut was erected in Gram Panchayat land at Gupanpalli village two months ago and was used for prayers. It got burnt on Friday night. Gram Panchayat did not give permission when they wanted to have a (water) bore. It’s a hut,” Nizamabad district Superintendent of Police Chandrasekhar Reddy said.

On the complaint of a villager, a case under section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance) of the IPC has been registered in the incident, the SP said, adding investigation was on.
