Hyderabad: 3-yr-old, girl student beaten by Anganwadi teacher, suffers fracture

Hyderabad: In an appalling incident a teacher allegedly beat a three-year-old student at an Anganwadi centre in Yellareddyguda on Wednesday. The girl suffered a fracture on her right hand. Victim Chennuri Ruthika is the daughter of Mallesh a cab driver.

According to Chennuri Ruthika’s parents the ayah had dropped her at home without telling them what had happened. However later when Ruthika’s mother noticed a swelling on her hand she took her to hospital. Doctors after examining her confirmed a fracture just above the right elbow.

The next day her father went to question the teacher Varalakshmi. Far from feeling guilty she replied rudely and gave contradictory explanations. Once she said she was not aware of what had happened and at another time she said one of the boys pushed the child.

The matter was brought to the notice of Woman and Child Welfare Department which is conducting an inquiry into the matter. The girl is too scared to explain the whole situation.
