Hyderabad CP bans bursting of crackers on roads

City Police Commissioner and Addl. District Magistrate M. Mahendar Reddy, IPS, today exhorted all citizens to maintain peace and tranquility for smooth conduct of the Ganesh festival and idols immersion processions.

Bursting or throwing of fire crackers on public roads and at public places was strictly prohibited from 0600 hrs on August 25 to 1800 hrs on September 6. He said Ganesh festival will begin on August 25 with installation of Idols and conclude on September 5 with the immersion of idols. He pointed out that a section of people and anti-social elements are likely to indulge in forcible collection of funds in the name of religion and religious functions and whereas forcible collection of funds is likely to create religious animosity and hatred among different communities and individuals and also likely to result in commission of offences and disturbance to public peace, he said, adding such forcible collection of funds, whether called donation or “Chanda” or by any other name, will not be allowed.
