Hyderabad: doctors leave needle in baby’s leg, booked for negligence

Hyderabad: KPHB police registered a case of negligence against a private hospital, after parents of a child alleged that doctors left a needle in child’s leg. A case was registered against Dr Srinivas of Prasad Hospital.

According to police wife of Kalluri Narendra Kumar, a resident of Nizampet village, delivered a boy in April in a private hospital and later she was shifted to another hospital as she developed medical complications.

As reported by Deccan Chronicle, after the child was treated for 12 days at Prasad Hospital in KPHB, the parents noticed a swelling on the child’s right leg. They consulted the doctor who earlier treated the child. However the doctor asked them not to worry claiming that the swelling was due to a calcium clot.

Later the couple found a needle in the child’s right leg and removed it. They lodged a complaint with the KPHB police against the doctor and the hospital. Investigations are underway.
