HYDERABAD: A local court here on Friday sentenced 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to husband and in-laws in dowry harassment case.
According to prosecution, Haroon’s daughter Amreen Fatima, resident of Kala Pather was married to Shaik Zubair, a receptionist at local hospital in Yakutpura in March 2012.
Amreen’s family had provided 1 lakh cash, jewellery as dowry. A few months after the marriage, Zubair along with his mother Hajera Begum and father Shaik Qasim tortured her to bring more dowry.
Zubair even humiliate the victim by commenting on her features in front of his family. Fed up with the harassment, Amreen committed suicide.
The Nampally Metropolitan Sessions Court after hearing both the sides convicted the accused in the case and sentenced the ten years of rigorous imprisonment.
