Hyderabad: Man loses life after failing to pay bribe of Rs. 150 to ward boys

Hyderabad: N. K. Krishnaya (30) a resident of Mahabubnagar lost his life on Monday night. His relatives alleged that he was not provided oxygen by the ward boys at the Chest Hospital since he was not in a position pay the bribe of Rs. 150 to them.

Hospital suspended Dhanajay Raju and Mohammed Nadeem after receiving the complaint from the relative of the deceased.

According to the news published in DC, Krishnaya was suffering from bilateral tuberculosis and both his lungs had collapsed.

In the complaint, his wife, K Lakshmi stated that after the first oxygen cylinder which was supplied to her husband got exhausted, she requested for the second cylinder. Ward boys demanded Rs. 150 bribe for arranging second cylinder. Relatives told that they were poor and had no money to pay the bribe. Despite making request to arrange the cylinder, the ward boys did not supply it. In the meanwhile, patient died.

Ward boys usually demand bribes from the relatives of every patient. Those who pay it, are looked after properly. This is the usual practice in Govt. hospital.

The hospital authorities revealed that investigation will be conducted to find the truth.
