Hyderabad: Missing 12-year-old Urooj found murdered

Hyderabad:  A 25-year-old neighbour allegedly murdered 12-year-old boy to obtain ransom from his parents in Hyderabad.

Mohd Urooj Uddin Ahmed is a Class VIII student of Rising Sun School is a resident of Jahangirabad, Chandrayangutta area in Old City.

According to Deccan Chronicle reports, the deceased had left home on April 28 but did not return from a nearby masjid.

Therefore, a missing complaint was lodged with Chandrayangutta police by the boy’s parents suspecting Muneeruddin, who lived in the neighborhood.

Based on the complaint lodged, the accused has been called for questioning.

“During investigation we questioned locals and came across neighbour Muneeruddin,” said SI M. Srinivas Rao to DC. “The family of the boy had suspected Muneer-uddin. We questioned him on Saturday and let him off,” the SI added.

After that he went to Mumbai leaving behind a letter stating to be felt humiliated by the police.

On Wednesday, Muneeruddin was called backed and interrogated again and then, he confessed to killing by strangulating the boy and dumped his body in the lake.

It came to light that Muneeruddin, had planned to kidnapped Urooj to extort money from the boy’s father but did not succeed as he couldn’t muster up the courage to make ransom call to the boy’s parents.

Police retrieved Urooj’s body from a lake in Chandrayanagutta police station limits on Thursday and registered a case of kidnapping and murder against the culprit.
