Hyderabad: No doctor in primary health centre; Woman delivers baby in auto

Hyderabad: A woman reportedly delivered a baby in an auto rickshaw as she was turned away from the local primary health centre in Nalgonda district on Sunday.

As reported by Deccan Chronicle, 30-year-old, A. Annapurna, was at her parents’ house in Tipparthi in Nalgonda house when she developed labour pains in the afternoon. Parvathamma, an accredited social health activist (ASHA) took her to the primary health centre in Tipparthi.

However there was no doctor or medical staff to attend her at the primary health care centre.

Annapurna and Parvathamma boarded an auto rickshaw to go to the Nalgonda government hospital. On the way Annapurna delivered the baby in the auto rickshaw. She was assisted by Parvathamma (ASHA worker).

Both mother and the newborn were stated to be in good health. Tipparthi ZPTC member Saidulu lodged a complaint with the district collector against primary health centre.
