Hyderabad police arrest NRI, who had abandoned his wife at Shamsabad airport

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police arrested the NRI who had abandoned his wife and nine-month-old son at the RGI Airport a month ago. Y. Keerthisai Reddy, a US-based mechanical engineer has been booked under harassment case, on the basis of complaint filed by his mother-in-law. Police told that Keerthisai’s mother harassed his wife Sirisha and did not allow her to breastfeed their son.

The couple got married in April 2015 and went to the US where Keerthisai worked as a mechanical engineer in Virginia while Sirisha, an engineering graduate, was a housewife.

The harassment began after Sirisha gave birth to a boy. Keerthisai suspected her fidelity.
His mother Vanitha who also went to the US too started harassing her daughter-in-law.

Sirisha narrated her woes to her mother in Hyderabad, who approached the police with the help of NGOs and filed a complaint at the Vanasthalipuram police station in January.

A case was booked against the husband under Section 498-A (harassment). The couple arrived at Hyderabad in February. After landing, Keerthisai drove home along with his mother, leaving Sirisha at the airport.

Having left in the lurch, Sirisha approached ASI Dhan Singh and sought his help. The ASI arranged a cab for her to reach her parents’ home in Vanasthalipuram.
