Hyderabad: In an appalling incident occurred at Mailardevpally, a poor man dumped the body of his daughter in a drain as he had no money to conduct her last rites. The girl had allegedly committed suicide.
According to police sources, the girl allegedly committed suicide on May 5 by hanging from a ceiling fan. She was allegedly involved in a theft case. Her father Pentaiah (45), dumped the body into a drain in the drain behind his house on the outskirts of the city.
As reported by DC, S Pentaiah, ran into financial difficulties when his son, Sitaram, committed suicide two years ago; he had to borrow Rs 50,000 for the funeral expenses. He was further burdened with debt when he had to borrow Rs 50,000 for the puberty ceremony of his daughter Bhavani.
The incident came to light when girl’s highly decomposed body parts were found floating in the drain on May 31.
Pentaiah’s son too had allegedly committed suicide last year, said police.
Pentaiah is said to have confessed before the police that he had disposed off the body by dumping it in the drain as he did not have money for funeral.
Pentaiah, is a daily wage labour in a chemical factory in Katedan. His wife left him five years ago. He was staying with his children Sitaram and Bhavani.
A case has been registered and investigations are underway.
