Hyderabad student’s suicide: Parents demand closure of classes

Hyderabad: Parents of the boy, who committed suicide for being humiliated on non-payment of fee, along with other 60 parents, staged protest on Monday demanding that the school closes classes 8, 9 and 10th and asked the school management to shift their wards to a recognised school.

Parents staged dharna in front of the school and expressed anger over school management for running the school without a licence for 5 years.

Protesting parents refused to move from the place till the school was closed down. The police had to use lathi charge to bring the crowd under control and disperse them.

It must be recalled that on January 4, Mirza Salman Baig, a class 9 student of Ifham Talent School in Old City, hanged himself from a ceiling fan after returning home from school allegedly on being humiliated by the school’s management for not paying the fees.

Shajahan Begum, mother of Mirza Salam Baig, said that only after her son’s death, she got to know that this school is running without recognition since 2012. She said that, she didn’t want any other parent to suffer like they did and wanted the government to immediately close this school and make sure that they got justice.

Meanwhile, in another circular, the Deputy Education Officer (DEO), Bandlaguda, has warned the parents that they would have to face consequences if they don’t shift their wards to other recognised school.
