Hyderabad: Making waves in the Indian junior tennis, India No.3 player 16-year-old Hyderabadi girl, Shaikh Humera Begum represented the country in the junior Fed Cup event. She played in India’s Fed Cup along with another city girl Sai Dedeepya, who is the top ranked girl in the same category, two months back. During the event Humera impressed every one winning four of her six singles matches.

As reported by Telangana today, Humera began her journey at the age of 8. Her mother Shaikh Malika had a big influence on Humera to choose tennis.

She is being trained by Coach Syed Kaleem at Lal Bahadur stadium. She lives with her parents in Old City of Hyderabad.

She says she learnt a lot from that tournament. She gets four hours training daily – two in the morning and two in the evening – honing her skills, while she allocates another two hours to strengthen her fitness at Sanjeeva Park.

Humera aims at playing professional tennis and win Grand Slams for the country.

Humera is a student of Mukarram Jah High School in Purani Haveli. Her father Shaikh Mohammed Bin accompanies her to places for tournaments. He is a real estate business man.
