Hyderabad: Ban on loud noise for the next 15 days

Hyderabad: City dwellers will now have to seek special permission from the Divisional assistant commissioners of police in order to play loud music in the city following the notification issued by the Police Commissioner M. Mahender banning loud noise, high volume sound systems throughout the city for the next 15 days.

The loud noise is neutralizing Police communication systems in the city said the order from the Commissioner.

In many areas, the noise levels have crossed the permitted levels of 20 decibels due to traffic, speakers and crackers and the ban is implemented in order to check the overall noise pollution caused in the city.

The officials have also made it clear of the stringent punishments people will be serving for violating the ban.

The current ban is implemented under the Rule 8 of Noise Pollution (Regulation & Control) Rules 2000 which bans the use of loud sound systems and bursting of crackers in public places and roads effective from 6 am on July 27 to 6 am on August 10.

Violators of the ban will be booked under 67(c), 188 of IPC and also under section 76 of Hyderabad City Police Act, 1348 Fasli.
