Hyderabad: According to a press note issued by CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. Mohammed Asadullah, Imams and Muazzins of mosques will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 1000 per month. Govt. has allocated Rs. 12 crore for this purpose. Initially there is a proposal to sanction this honorarium to the Imams and Mauzzins of 5000 mosques. If need be more funds would be allocated.
According to the instructions given by Mr. Syed Omer Jaleel, IAS, Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare, it would be sufficient if the applicants produce Aadhar Card or voter ID card for their identification. The condition of production of certificate from the mosque committee has been withdrawn since many mosque committees were reluctant to issue these certificates. Preference will be given to the Imams and Mauzzins of the mosques with meager income. This honorarium would be in addition to the amounts given by mosque committees to the Imams and Muazzins.
