India condemns all forms of terrorism, says Pranab Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee, during his visit to Jerusalem in Israel, said that India condemns all forms of terrorism.

President Mukherjee, who reached Jerusalem on Tuesday after visiting Jordan and Palestine, was accorded a ceremonial reception at the presidential palace, where he met his Israeli counterpart Reuven Rivlin.

Speaking at the occasion, Mukherjee called for “peaceful resolution of all disputers.” He lauded the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of agriculture, defence and technology and research while calling for further cooperation in other sectors with “significant potential.”

“We are distressed at the recent violence. India condemns all forms of terrorism. We have always advocated a peaceful resolution of all disputes. I will seek the assessment of the Israeli leadership about the recent developments in this region that have caused concern all over the world and have direct implications for India,” said President Mukherjee.

The Indian President met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said that sky was the limit for collaborations between the two countries and promised India any technology for its development. Mukherjee also addressed the Israeli Parliament, Knesset, during which he expressed gratitude towards Israel for supporting “India’s rightful claim to a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.”

Meanwhile, India and Israel signed two key Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), including the one on double tax avoidance treaty. The tax pact would help plug loopholes in tax evasion.
