India-England Test match in Chennai in balance post Jayalalithaa’s death

Mumbai/Chennai [India]: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that no decision has yet been taken about the venue of fifth test match to be played between India and England.

The match was originally scheduled to take place in Chennai, but with the passing of Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa Jayaram on December 5, there is uncertainty regarding the event.

The fifth test is scheduled to be held at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium from December 16-20.

“We have not taken any decision with regard to the Chennai test match. We are keeping a close watch on the situation and we are taking the inputs from the local association as to what is the mood and sentiments of people. And, based on what evolves, the final decision on the match will be taken,” said BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke in Mumbai.

India leads the five-match series 2-0 ahead of the fourth test starting in Mumbai on Thursday. (ANI)
