India just ahead of Sri Lanka on day two of the second Test

Colombo, Aug.21 : Despite Kaushal Silva’s half century, India continue to remain ahead after taking three Sri Lankan wickets on the second day of the second Test at the P. Sara Oval on Friday.

At the end of the day, Sri Lanka were at 140 for three, with skipper Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne at the crease with 19 and 28 respectively.

Wicketkeeper batsman Kaushal Silva scored 56 before getting out to Ravichandran Ashwin.

Kumar Sangakarra, who is playing his last match, got out after scoring 32 runs.

From India, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav and Amit Mishra took a wicket each.

Earlier, resuming at an overnight position of 319, India were bundled out for 393 in their first innings.

Opener Lokesh Rahul scored an impressive 108 off 190 balls, which included 13 fours and one six.

Skipper Virat Kohli’s 78, Rohit Sharma’s 79 and Wriddhiman Saha’s 56 were other notable scores for the tourists.

Sri Lanka is currently trailing by 253 runs.(ANI)
