India-Singapore ink key agreements, launch joint postage stamp

Singapore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday signed key Memorandums of Understanding with his Singapore counterpart Lee Hsein Loong and also released a joint stamp to mark the 50 years of diplomatic relation of India and Singapore.

The signed MoUs were on defence cooperation, shipping, cultural exchange, civil aviation, urban planning, cyber security, combating illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs.

“A large bandwidth of cooperation. 10 bilateral documents signed between #IndiaSingapore cutting across sectors. The Agreements showcase strength of bilateral ties,” Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi held official talks with Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong at Istana.

He also met Singapore’s Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address the India-Singapore Economic Convention and interact with Chief Executive Officers of several companies.

Prime Minister Modi will also visit the Institute of Technical Education which offers course in vocational study in Singapore.

Before wrapping up his visit, he will address Indian Diaspora at Singapore Expo in which over 20 thousand people have registered themselves.

The Prime Minister will return to New Delhi ahead of the winter session of the Parliament that begins on November 26. (ANI)
